 Aji River
altAji River is the most important independent river of Saurashtra. The word Aji is derived from Sanskrit (literally meaning mother) ajjiya originating from the hills of Sardhar and Lodhika region, travels through Rajkot, Padadhari and Morbi Taluka of Rajkot district and meets the Arabian Sea near the village Ranjitpara of Jodiya Taluka of Jamnagar District. It has a beautiful garden, an aquarium, an aviary, a zoo etc. It is an excellent picnic spot, surrounded by small hills.
 Alfred High School
altOriginally called ‘Rajkot English School it was established on 17th October 1853. By 1868 A.D. it became a full fledged high school and came to be known as the Rajkot High School in 1886. It was named Alfred High School in the late 1907.

The present buildings of the Alfred High School were built for kathiawar by H.H. the Nawab of Junagadh in memory of H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburg. This School was opened in January 1875 by H.E. Sir Philip Wodehouse, KCB, and Governor of Bombay. The architect of this imposing structure was Robert Bel Booth.
 Christ Church
altThe Christ Church, Rajkot was consecrated on the 17th February 1849 by the Rt. Rev. Thomas Carr D.D. the first Bishop Bombay. This church was built to cater to the needs of European Christian Community stationed at Rajkot during the British Regime.

The members of the Christ Church English congregation hailed from different parts of the country. Thus, this church has a very cosmopolitan character.During the year 1970 on account of the church union in northern India, this church came under the aegis of administrative control of Gujarat Diocese. Since then, this church has grown considerably and at present, services in English and Malayalam are being conducted regularly every Sunday by the Marthoma Church. Apart from providing a place of worship to the Christian community in Rajkot, this small and beautiful church is one of the well maintained churches in Gujarat.
 Jam Tower
altA tower with a clock donated by Jam Vibhaji Ruler of Jamnagar in 1880 as a gift to the British Agency and hence is known as Jam Tower.
 Kaba Gandhi No Delo
altThis is the house where Gandhi (Kaba Gandhi) lived while in Rajkot, serving as Diwan (Prime Minister) to the King. Gandhiji himself spent a few years of his early life here from 1881 to 1887. This is a typical Saurashtra ‘dela’ type house with a central approach from an arched gateway.

It was built in 1880-81 A.D. Today, the lace houses an interesting photo essay of his life.
 Lang Library
altIn 1856 A.D., a library by the name of ‘Gungrahak Mandali’ stared off} as one room affair in an English school during the British times. Later on in 1864 A.D., it shifted to its own independent building in Kothi compound area. From 1893 A.D.

onwards, this library functioned from the grand building Jubilee Garden. In 1964, it was rechristened as Lang Library in memory of Colonel Lang. Political Agent of kathiawar, it is the oldest library in saurashtra. The building housing the library is an important architectural monument of its time. It is built in Victorian Style with Gothic arches out of the local sand stone.
 LalPari Lake & Randarda Lake
altLalpari-Randarada lakes, one of the most exotic nature spot on the outskirts of the city and popular amongst bird watchers, will be developed as a picnic point by Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC). It is a picturesque picnic spot, 5 km away from Rajkot.

The lake Lalpari is originally 29 feet deep .While Lake Randarda is 50 feet deep.
 Masonic Hall
altThe Masonic Hall House, houses the Free Mason’s lodge. It was called ‘Lodge Kathiawar’. The building of this lodge was built on 1st January 1906. It was inaugurated in September 1906. At that time, the Honorable Sir Lawrence Hugh was the District Grand Master of Bombay. Mr. H.S. Davies, was the architect of this building.
 Mukti Dham
alt Spreading over an area of 12,000 yards, Mukti dham is an electric crematorium located in Ramnath para area on the banks of the river Aji. What makes this place special is that it is not just a place for cremation of dead bodies, but something more.

The entrance to the crematorium is known as the Pearl Gates. These are carved out of Red stones by Orissa sculptors. The crematorium has provisions for two electric pyres where the funeral proceedings are carried out according to Hindu ideologies and customs but the pyre is lit using electric supply. It also has a conventional crematorium where wood logs are used for cremation. Mukti Dham has a library which houses books on spiritual and religious topics and can be read by the visitors. There are step gardens in Mukti Dham which adds to the beauty of the place with its colorful flowers and tender shrubs. The place also has an air-conditioned prayer hall which can accommodate up to 200 people. There is a Satsang Bhavan with statues of Lord Sri Krishna, Sri Ghansyam Maharaj and Sri Mahavir Swami. There are 25 mini temples on the perimeter of the Satsang Bhavan. The place also has a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
 Nyari Dam
alt Nyari dam is 5kms away from Rajkot. It is a paradise for nature lover’s and bird watchers. A beautiful place with marvelous scenic beauty. Nyari dam has been made a picnic spot for localities so that they can visit and enjoy the view of the dam.
 Rajkumar College
altEstablished by Col. Keating, British Political Agent in 1868, it imparts education upto the higher secondary level. The main aim of establishing this college was to teach the princes’ to rule their state better in future when they became King. In 1938, it became an open institution.

The Rajkumar College (also known as RKC) in Rajkot is one of the oldest K-12 institutions in India today. RKC has a 26 acre campus located in the heart of Rajkot City. Most of buildings are built in the Indo Gothic.The Bhavsinhji Hall is worth a visit. It houses large oil paintings of the princes’ who studied there. The foundation stone was laid in 1868 and college was formally opened in 1870. The College’s flourishing history of 136 years had students from all walks of life. In 1938, on the initiatives of its founding members, the college became a public school (Private in Western Terms) the first such college to do so. The college itself is a founding member of the Indian Schools Conference.
 Raiya Naka Gate & Tower

In 1892, the Chief Engineer of the British Agency, Sir Robert Bell Booth, renovated Raiya Naka gate and built the present three storied clock tower.
 Ranjit Vilas Palace
alt The city palace was built during the rule of Bavajiraj in 1877 A.D. out of providing relief to the citizen due to famine in that year. It’s a fine building in lime stone with gothic arches. The furniture inside the palace is worth a visit.
 Sir Lakhajiraj Memorial 'Bapu Nu Bavlu'
alt Sir Lakhaji Raj, the benevolent ruler of Rajkot died on 2nd February 1930 after ruling for 22 years. In homage to this great ruler, the people of Rajkot built the ‘Lakhaji Raj Smarak’. A marble statue was erected and is known as ‘bapu nu bavlu’. The sculptor of this beautiful statue was V.P. Karmarker from Bombay. It was inaugurated on 21st April 1934 by his son, the then Thakore Sahib of Rajkot Shri Dharmendrasinhji.
