Navratri to begin in Rajkot under Police vigil

RAJKOT, Date :- 28/09/2011 :

The city police have asked the all the garba organizers to install closed circuit television ( CCTV) cameras as a precautionary measure. They have also told organizers not to allow revelers to photograph women using mobile phones.

Police have also asked all guest houses, hoteliers to maintain a list of customers and not allow youngsters in garba dress to book rooms for the night. Police will keep a watch on this activity throughout the nine days. Moreover, police will use breath analyzers at venues to prevent rowdy behaviour.

"All the guidelines are issued to maintain law and order and public decency in the city. Police will continue patrolling throughout the city during Navratri. The Quick Response Team will be on standby along with Bomb Disposal Squad in the city,'' deputy commissioner of police, Rajkot city, Mayanksinh Chavda said. According to sources, there are more than 450 garba venues in the city which include traditional garbis as well as Club Garba organizations.
