BRTS corridor to see free trial runs by SML ISUZU bus

RAJKOT, Date :- 4/10/2011 :

Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) will now be carrying out free trial runs with a SML ISUZU Ltd (earlier known as Swaraj Mazda).

vehicle on its Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) corridor on the 150-feet Ring Road here from October 11.

Earlier, RMC had carried out trial runs for a month with a Mercedes-Benz bus on the dedicated corridor.

The RMC standing committee has given its approval for the trial runs.

The 10.7 km pilot project of the BRTS from Gondal Road Chowkdi to Jamnagar Road Chowkdi on the 150-feet Ring Road is in its final stage of completion.

The civic body would later decide the suitability of the buses for the BRTS based on the data collected from the trial runs.

The civic body would be seeking the feedback of commuters before selecting a bus for the BRTS project being undertaken under Central Government sponsored Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission.
